Post subject: What do you listen to?
PostPosted: Sat Apr 04, 2009 3:04 pm
Just wondered what you Guys 'n Gals listened to whilst playing WoW?

Myself , it's a mix of older 'Classic' Rock (Kansas, Boston, Thunder etc) and new stuff (Foo Fighters, Disturbed, Rammstein, Lost Prophets etc)

(I'm at work and can you tell I'm totally bored off my tree? )

I don't usually listen to anything but WoW when I'm playing, but usually have the WoW music off since I've heard it one too many times.

Nice set of bands you listen to now Male :-).

Unfortunately, the only things i get to listen to are a combination of the following:

1. Kids arguing.
2. Dog barking.
3. Wife telling me to grow up and stop playing silly computer games!

The sooner I build that extension...

Regards to you all.
Lupas

Sometimes I listen to WOW's music, sometimes I put on some of my own. I usually listen to trance or put on Simon and Gartfunkel, or Paul Simon solo. Or Frank Sinatra. I also enjoy listening to Enya when playing WOW.

I enjoy listening to Kate Bush, Tori Amos, David Gray, Embrace, Sheryl Crow. I also love Sandy Denny from fairport convention.

Since the subject has kind of migrated into what music we listen to in general (versus during wow play only) I might as well throw in a few band names as well :-).

What I've been mainly listening to for the past year or so is Boards of Canada, Röykskopp, Radiohead, NIN, Veto, Air, Depeche Mode, Ulrich Schnauss and Emiliana Torrini.

I usually don't listen to music while playing, sometimes I turn off the WoW music.

As for music I like to listen to, Beatles is number one. I also love Depeche Mode, Sisters of Mercy, Hot House Flowers, Queen, Led Zepellin, Rage Against the Machine, Faith No More.... I can keep going on forever.

I am currently listening a lot to a band named Asaf Avidan and the Mojos. It's an Israeli band, but they sing in English, and they are really good - rock/blues style. The singer is a guy but he reminds me of Janice Joplin a bit.

Mmmm... Well, when it comes to WoW I generally gladly listen to the in game music. I think some tunes are particularly inspired (like the Blood Elves areas), and overall well synchronized to the game areas and events, which enforces a nice "movie soundtrack" feeling.

Out of the game, I listen to quite diverse stuff.

Among others, certainly: Radiohead, Damon Albarn, Coldplay (not particularly happy about their latest thing...), Portishead, Sigur Ros, Andrew Bird, Patrick Watson, etc.

I also enjoy both some classics (From Edith Piaf to Bob Dylan, to say...) and some progressive/acid jazz.

But I enjoy some classical music as well. Particularly post-Romantic authors (Debussy, Satie, Rachmaninov, etc.) and contemporary ones (Philip Glass, Toru Takemitsu, John Cage, etc.).

So, yes, overall quite eclectic tastes...

Wow, many here with similar taste in music. I'm actually quite amazed!

Malekyth: Foo Fighters and Rammstein: *thumbs up*

Lupas: Aww hehe. Well lots of "kids fighting" FX over here too, believe-you-me.

Nazthur: Been getting into trance myself lately. Been listening especially to ATB.

Florence: Oooooh I loved Kate Bush so much when I was younger. She was the first female artist to show me that it's ok to be unique and unconventional. And yes, Thom Yorke of Radiohead is amazing. The only thing I regret is not having seen them in concert yet.

Krognor: Oh another DM fan eh? I used to be a hard core Sisters fan when I was younger. They actually had a concert here in Helsinki a few weeks ago. Was almost tempted to go see it.

Lyrael: I agree what you say about Coldplay. The new album has lost it's slight melancholy and pining touch. Love Portishead and Sigur Ros as well. Classical music flows in my veins too. My dad had it playing all the time when I was a kid, so couldn't really avoid it. Debussy - ah!

If you like that sort of trance, I can recommend Armin van Buuren's State of Trance cd's. His latest two are mixed with very relaxed trance tracks.

Kate Bush's awesome btw. I made a remix of Wuthering Heights once, but I lost it when my hard drive crashed. :( She certainly has a terrific voice. I always get goosebumps when I hear that song.

Actually sisters are coming to israel in about 2 months. I might go see them.

Depeche mode will be here next month and I am going to miss them which is a great shame, because I missed them 3 years ago. They were scheduled to do concert in tel-aviv and cancelled 2 days before the date because of the situation we had back then with Lebanon...

I hope something will change and I will manage to go see them this time, but I am not optimistic

I've generally got the TV on in the background so am listening to that while I play WOW.

Also have to listen to my fiance bursting out into the odd very loud song just to frighten the life out of me! He'll do that one day soon and induce my labour :P

Music wise I listen to all sorts!

Disturbed, The Killers, Spineshank, The Prodigy, The Offspring, Oasis, Beyonce....A bit of evrything although I've never really got into classical music or the modern "dance music" my little sister listens to (you know, the stuff that sounds like chipmunks?)

Dream Theater!

New album out Monday...although it's been all over the internet for a while now! *grins wickedly*
I'll be buying it anyway, tho - the Delux collectors box-set, no less!

Good stuff :D
