Wow this is big news from my perspective because I really can't count how many people I've heard say "Yeah, I'd try a MMO otherwise (and to them an MMO is the same as WoW since they don't know any better) but I don't like to pay a monthly subscription"

I think this will bring in a lot of new players!

Deffo a good idea from blizzard, coupled with the burning crusade now included free with wow. For a casual guild perspective we may get a few applications because of this

Yes, I read about this on Reddit, in some ways quite restricted but overall a good move I think.

You zip through the first ten levels so fast these days I can see why they'd need it. Plus most of the 10-20 zones I've seen since Cataclysm are very entertaining and good selling points for the game. Westfall and Redridge were hilarious and Silverpine Forest has you running around everywhere with Sylvanas. I wasn't as happy with Darkshore, but that was a zone with real design problems and I have to admit they've done a good job addressing them.

What are the other 10-20 zones like these days?

Consider, though, that the trial mode doesn't allow the new players to join guilds, trade, join public chat channels and so on. While all these restrictions are quite understandable (otherwise it would be a free pass for gold sellers and scammers...), they still massively limit the in-game interactions for those who join that way.

It may still be a simple way to access the game for those who are new, but so was the previous trial mode. Don't know, we'll see...

Ah, didn't realise it worked like the 7day trials etc, but if you're a person that wants to try the game and various classes and doesn't get much play time, rather than rush a char up the levels it is still a good idea

fair enough about not allowing to trade etc, but if blizzard let the trialists join guilds it would be more benficial I think, interaction is the whole purpose of a mmorpg in my opinion
