Because I just added another name to my list, I was wondering if anyone else has a list of names for potential new characters? (Or if it's just me that is that kind of weird. ;))

I already have a ton of alts and don't even play with all of them on a regular basis, but I still have a long list of names for new characters as well.

No idea if I will ever roll those toons, but I like the thought of having ready names and even sometimes the class/race/looks of a toon ready. :)

Also, how do you come up with your character names?
I work in a hospital, so I come across many different names and some of them inspire me for WoW character names. :)

It's terribly tempting to play around with the character creator, isn't it? I have a male blood elf paladin named Koroth and a female human warlock named Moreth who occasionally exist but will never get played.

I actually make up most of them, but I try to make it sounds like a name from that race, for eg. many Tauren names are short and many end on a vowel, hence "Lahu". Blood elf names often have "-wen" or "-wyn" appended, hence "Abigorwyn". I also have a troll on another server and I wanted to make it sound more tribal, so his name is "Nungabanga"

I generally don't get the names I want from generators but maybe for you it'll be different. Otherwise I'll just google "tauren/orc/belf names" etc.

Hope it helps!

Lahu

Well, I have a very old and long list of names, but I use that primarily for pen and paper rpgs - and then mostly for NPCs. I also like messing around with the character generator from time to time and I've always found creating characters (be it for pen and paper or for computer games) as interesting as playing them - sometimes even more so.

Now that you mention it, the Traveller game does have a very interesting char creator. It's almost like a mini-game in itself where you make choices for your character, like which career you want and so on, and then go on to roll on some charts which can have a variety of impacts on your character's further career. It's divided in tours of duty (of 4 years I believe) and when you decide that it's time to quit the career your character is doing right now, then you are ready for adventure.

It has much more to it than that, but I hope you get the gist of it.
