Just a heads up. Wow client won't always ask you for your authenticator code. This is because they can now intelligently track which IP your logging in from and if you do a few in a row or in a short period of time from the same ip address then it won't ask for your authenticator code. Details on the Battle.net stick post below:

thanks Pry saved me panicing when I wasn't asked for my number :+)

Brambline, I would assume that if your playing in an internet cafe you would be asked for your number, chances are the computer your on would have logged into a few different accounts. Could be wrong though lol

Not such a good idea though when you are playing WoW from a shared computer in student digs I guess?

Now when I bothered to stop and think about it, I realized that of course it's not a problem since you always log on with your own unique email anyhow thus triggering the authenticator with each new email fed in.

I think it's varified by your specific IP Address and other computer specific criteria like MAC Address etc so if you logged on a different machine or over a wifi internet cafe or even a friend's computer the battle.net would recognize it's not the same machine and then ask for your authenticator. I think it's also possibly based on whether the machine has restarted since last login. I'm always just putting mine on standby instead :P

Was hoping to pop on and take part in AQ40 tonight but got some studying to do so might not make it on.

Cheers,

Pryd

Just for reference: I can confirm that you don't need to use the authenticator after a restart (when continuously logging on from the same machine and ip).
