Post subject: Call to arms - The litch king lives!
PostPosted: Tue Jun 21, 2011 10:28 pm
Greetings fellow elders, i bear terrible news... It seems while the world has accepted the defeat of the Litch King and turned it's attention on beating back Deathwing no one has been back to Icecrown Citadel to check if Arthas is really gone, i have spoken to several Paladins and mystics whom can sense the magnitude of evil emmanating from the frozen throne, sadly i can confirm that Arthas still lives!

We entrusted the task of destroying him to the younglings, they fought most bravely and victory seemed to be theirs, alas there efforts were not enough. The litch King is weakened from the battle but not destroyed and is at this very moment recuperating on his frozen throne.

It is time Elders, the inevitable battle we hoped to avoid, we must storm the Citadel, lay waste to his risen army and defeat him once and for all.

(OOC thought it might be fun to try and beat the Litch King, since cata greens are better than wotlk epics anyone over 80 should be ok, we will still need to use the tactics. We can do it piece by piece over time, even if its one wing a week, any thoughts/comments/suggestions?)

are you thinking about doing it as a 5 man or 10 man raid Syk? We did try it a couple of months ago (10 man iirc) and even at 85 some of the bosses were very tricky because tactics are still needed

Oh a 10 man for sure. I know the tactics will still be needed as 80-85 isnt a huge increase in levels but it will give us an edge, if anyone has done it before maybe they could explain tactics before each boss, i would also suggest people read up on the fights before hand.

I still have a bone to pick with that guy.

I'd be happy to join in chipping away at it. At Elders speed we'd need to do it over at least a couple of weeks, I think, probably more.

Sounds good to me, however I will only be able to do instance runs next month again (I'm leaving for a conference on Saturday and a week later, I must move house). After that though, I'd be very much keen.

Never got to ICC - so if you find time and dates I'll see what I can do to attend on Vanija.

Friends i am glad to see the strength and courage you all show in the face of this most abominable adversary! I agree that our progress into the Citadel shall be slow, being the Elders as we are, but i am sure that we will fight tooth and nail (and hoof and claw) to bring the madness ravaged Arthas to justice!

(OOC) Yeah progress will be slow, i admit i have never even set foot in ICC so i am completely clueless as to what we have to face (is that not more fun though?) I will organise the first run for the first wing this weekend, probably friday. Great chance for those casual players to try their hands at endgame (as it was mere months ago) raids. I am more than happy to "attempt" to tank it. Please see guild calander for details.

Would have loved to come, never been to ICC. But I'm going to a midsummer eve party tomorrow so I have to pass this time.

It seems there are a decent amount of people interested in going to ICC, obviously it didnt happen last night probably because there wasnt enough notice given (my bad) also as Brambs pointed out to me last night 8pm might be a problem for those with children, will see when people are most likely to be available and pop it on the calendar again :D

Might I suggest, pop a few experimental runs into the calendar as you're doing and see what gets the best result. As a guild that doesn't do much endgame content, it's hard to say what's a good time foe the majority of people without testing it.

I think I'm trying to say, don't be discouraged by a failed run or two. We'll get there, in our unfocused way.

Yeah i think that is a good plan Tobin, will maybe try and take a small group into the citadel for a prctice/scouting mission, see how things go, of course its guna take us a long time to get through the whole thing, i want the pace to be very suited to the elders, relaxed and suited to everyones needs.

My mantra these days is "wiping is fun", as a think we will wipe probaby more than once i think this will be a good thing for people to keep in mind, wiping isnt really bad, it gives you a chance to reconsider your options, discuss tactics and re-buff, essentially being better prepared after each wipe than you were before.
