 Post subject: Ulduar Raid
PostPosted: Wed Feb 23, 2011 2:40 am
I am hoping my guild-mates can help me out .. along with having some fun altogether .. by accompanying me on a raid :)

I have a hankering to get hold of a Swarming Guardian, a black cat model with glowing red eyes as a companion for my hunter Timral (I already have the other three obtainable glowing eyed cats). These can only be found as level 81's, spawned during the Auriaya fight in Ulduar.

However, I don't think I've ever been on a raid and I don't actually know what's involved or how many people are required in order to do this :P So I need a bit of advice along with hopefully some companionship.

Ah the crazy cat lady. This is a quite hectic fight (fear, random aoe dmg and adds additional to the panther swarm)but I will assume it's easier with 85's. The trash after Kologarn is a bit annoying as well. Keep in mind the panthers you're thinking of do die quite easily if I remember right with only 3k hp in normal mode (I was healing when I went there so watched green bars instead of the fight..). I don't know if you'll be able to isolate one from the group and get the training done before some other things happen. Do you know if this has been done before?

The abillity that summons the cats is called:
■ Summon Swarming Guardian - Summons a swarm of smaller panthers.

You can read about the fight here http://www.wowwiki.com/Auriaya

I'm happy to come along if you want to try just cause I think Ulduar is a pretty place.

I love Ulduar - depending on when you decide to do it I can come on Vanija and dish out a few heals.

In a month or two, Lahu should be lvl 80 or beyond (I think as soon as I start amassing Cata quest greens I should be able to do any lvl 80 raid). I've done some tanking with him, and in case people are still going for the pet or something similar, I would be very happy to tag along (kitty DPS will also do).

I'll not be up to level for atleast a month but if you checkout www.tankspot.com and / or check out the Tankspot videos on youtube it gives you a complete rundown of the raid, the mechanics and what everyone should do. My best advice is to check out people's availability, give them a couple of weeks to study up on the raid mechanics, watch videos etc and then have a go at it. I never made it into raids, well only 1 and my pc at the time crashed in the middle of it.

Incidentally Auriaya is the npc boss. Here's one of the videos: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=j21Fa6gpSug

Hope this helps in your endevour :)

Ulduar is a great raid and I've done it on my mage (didn't completely finish it though, but we did the Cat Lady). It does take a bit of planning though. But I'd imagine a group of OP 85s would have an easier time. In retrospect, it would probably not be a good idea for a lvl 80 druid to tank that one (at least not with a bunch of 85s) so if the opportunity arises, I'll tag along with my kitty.

I remember that being one very tricky fight. If you don't get the pull right, the whole thing collapses.

Ulduar's a great raid though. I'd be interested in revisiting it and though I'd like to bring my mage for achievement purposes, you'll probably want my druid.

I'll certainly tag along. I can focus on levelling up my pally tank and tank for you. If needed I'll join with my lock for dps.

:-)
